Crest is a self-custodial Bitcoin wallet. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights when using the Crest mobile application.
Crest does not custody user funds and does not have access to users' private keys.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Crest does not collect:
- Personal identity information (such as name, address, or government ID)
- Email addresses (unless voluntarily provided for support)
- Custodial access to user funds
- Private keys or seed phrases
- Blockchain wallet balances linked to user identity
Crest does not require account registration.
3. Information We May Collect
We collect limited technical information necessary to operate and improve the application.
a. Crash and Diagnostic Data
Crest uses Sentry, a third-party crash reporting service, to collect anonymized crash and diagnostic information. This may include:
- Device type
- Operating system version
- App version
- Error logs and stack traces
This information is used solely to diagnose and fix technical issues.
Sentry processes this data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
4. Blockchain Data
Transactions performed using Crest occur on public blockchain networks.
Blockchain transactions and related metadata are publicly accessible by design and are not controlled by Crest.
Crest does not modify or store blockchain data beyond what is necessary for application functionality.
5. Network and Infrastructure Data
When interacting with backend infrastructure (such as RPC endpoints or privacy pool services), limited technical data such as IP address may be temporarily processed by infrastructure providers for network routing and security purposes.
Crest does not maintain user accounts or user identity databases.
6. Data Retention
Crash and diagnostic data collected via Sentry is retained only as long as necessary to identify and resolve technical issues.
Crest does not maintain long-term user profiles or personal identity databases.
7. Security
Crest is a self-custodial wallet:
- Private keys are generated and stored locally on the user's device.
- Crest does not have access to private keys.
- Users are responsible for securely storing their seed phrase.
8. Eligibility and Age Restrictions
Crest is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Updates will be reflected by revising the effective date above.
